Moje noći su puste i beznadežne,
Emocije postaju suvišne i lažne.
Surovi sukob sa egzistencijom,
Eskalira čežnju za izolacijom.
Car svoje samoće, neizbežno iščeznuće.
Moja nada je uvenula u toj davnoj noći,
Evaporisala i ostavila me u hladnoći.
Sećanja na taj davni sukob su izbledela,
Epitaf će ih podsetiti na njihova zlodela.
Crv postojanja, kralj opraštanja.
Možda će ova mesečeva svetlost
Eflorescirati ovu preostalu žalost,
Skupiti sva zaboravljena sećanja,
Ekipirati um i odreći od iskušenja.
Cesta života, je prelaka za idiota.

Faithless and cursed I'm roaming,
amongst my memories I'm fading,
delighted by this loneliness,
incapable to grasp the happiness
nor take the easy way out,
grieving in this emotional lockout...
In the end, in this world, I always knew, that there's
no place where I would ever feel at home...
Tired of the haunting past,
hostage to a present ageing too fast,
enigmatic future is too hopeless to last...
Raindrops are slowly descending down the windows
as the tears that I've used to shed on those gallows,
immortal lack of trust fuels this pain,
numbness prevails as I'm fading in the Rain..

This transcending feeling is undefined.
Hear my cry as I invoke your name!
Everlasting emptiness, take away this pain!
Ravage all! I’m not the one to blame!
Blinded by the tempting illusions,
Away from evident conclusions.
Crawling back to my damned lair.
Keen blade has brought me to despair.
Stab wounds are still fresh and bleeding,
This time I should’ve seen them coming.
Another backstab has pierced my trust
Bringing along memories and disgust…

Only to find the bottom of his futileness.
Withstanding the rains of despair and pain,
Nothing has served, an existence that is in vain.
Exiting the scene like a failed actor
Xenomorphic animal, undefined factor.
Slipping constantly from the grasp of time,
Inhibited emotions turned into a slime.
Suppressed and imprisoned by his own hand
Trustless and hopeless impossible to mend.
Entangled in this place that some would call hell
Nourishing the hope that afterlife isn’t here as well.
Cleanse this emptiness, purge these lands,
End this thrown existence with your own hands…

yet again that memory and that heartache…

No life in this oppressive reality,
Overwhelmed by this insanity,
strained by unbreakable chains,
I am unable to stop the pains.
Sickening… self-diagnosis… depression…

On ne frappe pas un homme à terre : c'est ce que dit la règle mais NONE a déjà prouvé qu'il ne les suivait pas et si son album éponyme retirait toute perspective de béatitude spirituelle, Life has gone on long enough, son deuxième opus, nous interdit l'accès au bonheur terrestre. La vie n'a aucune substance et la production plus distante le confirme. Le DSBM s'empare de textures sonores blues, mettant en relief une dépression urbaine. Les cris partent en fumées : ne restent que les pleurs...

"La mort n'existe ni pour les vivants ni pour les morts" écrivait Épicure et ça reste toujours vrai : personne ne peut en faire l'expérience — sauf NONE, formation américaine qui en a fait son leitmotiv. Les membres du groupe sont inconnus et son premier album n'a pas de nom ; même le paysage sur la pochette est vaporeux. Si le DSBM est déjà d'une tristesse funèbre qui serre le cœur, les passages atmosphériques donnent à entendre les âmes en peine de l'autre côté du voile. Un début magistral...

NONE a opéré un virage dans Where Life Should Be et ça se confirme davantage dans Damp Chill of Life. Le temps des métaphores est révolu : l'humidité froide, c'est celle des larmes qui coulent sur le visage à cause de la dépression. Tout pleure dans cet album : les guitares typées DSBM grésillent, les solos ("The Damp Chill of Life", "It's Painless To Let Go") sont liquides et coulent, les voix prennent à la gorge ; même le piano, étranglé par les sanglots ("Cease"), est aphone. Insoutenable...

Winds of Sorrow est l'une des multiples facettes de l'artiste néo-zélandais Mort et aussi l'une des plus brèves puisque seul Through Twilight... naîtra sous ce patronyme. Mort part d'un bon concept, à savoir créer un doom metal/dungeon avec une emphase sur ce dernier, mais voit trop grand en visant le format de l'album alors qu'une démo était suffisante. Les atmosphères gothiques et parfois folkloriques sont envoûtantes mais couvrent trop une voix qu'on finit par oublier. Un album sympathique.
